Keen amateur photographer Alastair Macdonald makes no pretence of being a great photographer; he just wants to encourage people to get out and take photographs.

He enjoys his hobby despite having had M.E. (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) also known as CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) for nearly 25 years and now has a form of Long Covid on top.

He accepts he cannot access some of the fantastic places other photographers can reach, but he endeavours to capture great shots anyway

Where did Accessible Photography come from?

Alastair found YouTube to be a great inspiration but at the same time, quite depressing. Watching landscape photographers hike for hours up into mountains to get a great image is something he could not do. In response he started Vlogging on YouTube himself. This was to show, that people who could not access these wonderful remote places could still get out with their camera and take good pictures and have fun doing so. Just getting out of the house is far better than watching others do what you cannot.

What is this web site about?

The YouTube channel, Accessible Photography does not always show clearly where images have been taken from or how accessible that place is. This web site will try to address that.

Not all the images on this site will have been on YouTube.
As time goes on, more images from Vlogs will appear. It is the intention of Alastair to write about at least one image
per Vlog going forward.
